ABOUT ME
I was born in London, UK in 1975 to a Spanish mother and Belgian father. My early childhood was spent in Europe, USA and South America where I had the fortune to visit amazing places including the likes of Machu Picchu, Volcan Cotopaxi, Trinidad & Tobago, Chichen Itza & Uxmal, the Andes mountains, and more. This proved to be the catalyst for my love of travel; for my love of the road less traveled; of the wide sweeping landscapes and the hustle and bustle of developing world markets.

A degree in Ecology from the University of Edinburgh cemented my passion for the natural world. A few stints as an ecotourism guide in the Amazonian rainforest of Tambopata Candamo Reserve in Peru and the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve in Mexico served as a precursor to me lending my services in the wilds of Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica and Mexico to the BBC Natural History Unit for the production of wildlife documentaries, namely the Life of Mammals, Andes to Amazon, Capuchins: the Monkey Puzzle and the World Sustainable Development Summit shorts.

My latter years have seen me put more emphasis on the encouragement of sustainable livelihoods as a means to reduce the pressure on natural habitats while providing better living standards for the more remote and marginal communities around the world. My work has spanned the African and Asian continents including Ghana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mali, Ethiopia, Malawi, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Thailand on issues ranging from payment for ecosystem services, REDD+, and climate adaptation, to wildlife corridors, community-based natural resource management, water, sanitation and hygiene, youth engagement and environmental education.

I have very strong strategic planning, program design, evaluation and management skills. I am an excellent writer (if I say so myself) with a breadth of knowledge, eye for graphic design, and distinctive photography. I have worked with, and for, multilateral and bilateral development agencies (including the World Bank, United Nations and USAID), international NGOs (i.e. Pact, WWF Zimbabwe, Conservation International, Winrock International, and CARE), and the private sector (DAI, SGS Environment, and Mckinsey Social Initiative). Check out my CV for more information. And my photography has been used by many organizations including Survival International, SeetheWild, World Bank, National Wildlife Federation, The Hill, Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars, Globetotting.com, and others.
